Charotte's Web = Vegetarian

I have been reading Charlotte's Web to my kids before they go to bed for the past week or so. I absolutely love reading to my kids! They all snuggle around me and now that they actually sit and listen to what I read them it's even more fun.( Except for when I skip over all the Wilbur said fern said, and Caden insistingly corrects me for skipping parts...)
Well Last night as we came to the end of the chapter, the sheep was saying how poor Wilbur didn't know what he had coming to him at Christmas time, his death! Caden then very worried asked why he was going to die?! Here was our conversation:
Me: Caden we have animals on the earth to help feed us. Where do you think ham comes from? (ham sandwich being his favorite)
Caden: (with a very worried look) Pigs...?!
Me: Yep. And what a bout hot dogs, chicken nuggets, hamburgers?
Caden: Animals?! (insert huge tears welling up in his eyes) But mom that's not nice! ( all chocked up)
Ryan: It's OK buddie, that's why Heavenly Father put them here, to feed us. He said it's OK and Anyways Wilbur is just a pretend story.
Caden full on crying now: But it's still not nice!
Me: That's OK Cade you don't have to eat any meet if you don't want to.
Caden: I Won't! ( still crying)

Poor kid, Wilbur has tainted all his favorite foods and I wonder if that had to do with some of the tears. Not wanting to eat poor little animals, and the fact that it took away 3 out of the 4 lunch items that he loves!
So thanks to Wilbur and crew, you have created a vegetarian out of a 6 year old! We'll see how long it lasts. He's going with Ryan to a Vikings game tonight, with Hot Dogs being the staple food. How good is is memory going to be???
